A Community
Growing a Better Future.
Graceland Community and Forest Foundation is a community-based initiative in Boabeng, Ghana. We bring together education, community development, agriculture and environmental restoration to create opportunities that can grow and last.

Where It Began
Graceland began with the story of two children, Cecilia and Gideon.
They lived with their family in a remote farming area, far from the nearest school. While other children went to class, Cecilia and Gideon spent their days helping on the farm, collecting firewood and carrying water. The distance simply made regular school attendance impossible.
Meeting their family made one thing clear: a child’s opportunity to learn should not depend on where they happen to live. And any lasting solution would have to look beyond school fees and involve the family as well.
Their story made the idea real.
What began with the question of how children like Cecilia and Gideon could access education gradually grew into the vision for Graceland – bringing together education, community, sustainable livelihoods and care for the environment.
Why Graceland
For us, grace represents the opportunities that cannot simply be taken for granted – the people, circumstances and support that come together to give a child a chance to learn, grow and build a future.
And land means more than a physical place. It represents belonging, safety and a place where those opportunities can take root.
That is Graceland: a place where opportunity can take root.
“You are here by grace, and we will do our best to make this opportunity count.”

To create opportunities, empower communities and restore nature through practical, sustainable partnerships.

Service, integrity, stewardship, inclusion, self-help, partnership and hope.
Working With People, Not For Them
We believe lasting change grows from within a community. That is why we listen first, build relationships and work together with families and local people to understand what is needed and what can realistically be achieved.
01 — LISTEN
Understand people’s circumstances, community needs and local strengths.
02 — PARTNER
Work together with families, communities and local partners, sharing ideas and responsibility.
03 — ACT
Turn ideas into practical solutions that respond to real needs and build on what already exists.
04 — GROW
Learn from what works, strengthen independence and build solutions that can last.
Education does not exist in isolation. A child’s opportunities are closely connected to their family, their community and the environment around them. By looking at these things together, we want to create opportunities that can grow beyond short-term support.

“Every child deserves a chance. Every family deserves dignity. And every community has a responsibility.”
From Boabeng to Other Communities
Our long-term vision is for Graceland to grow into a strong and increasingly self-reliant community where children have opportunities to learn, families can build greater stability and people take responsibility for one another and the environment around them.
We do not believe that one organisation can solve every challenge. But we believe communities can create meaningful change when people come together, share responsibility and build on the strengths they already have.
Our work begins in Boabeng, but we hope its impact can reach further. By showing what can be built when a community works together, Graceland can encourage other communities to develop solutions that respond to their own needs and circumstances.
Growing Together with YANA
Graceland works closely with YANA – Kindern Zukunft schenken e. V., our partner organisation in Germany. Graceland leads the work locally, while YANA supports its development through funding, sponsorships and practical cooperation.
The partnership is built around a shared goal: to strengthen Graceland without creating long-term dependency, helping the organisation develop the structures and resources to become increasingly self-reliant.

Local leadership. Shared responsibility.
